Sweden introduces a reduced VAT rate on repairs and home services in order to manage consumption and help refugees

The Swedish government introduced a tax break from 25% to 12% for minor repair work on clothing, shoes, bicycles, household appliances and leather goods. The Green Party minister of Sweden stated; “it’s not necessarily about consuming less, but looking at what we consume and how.” Housework will also be considered for a tax break and this will include gardening, cleaning and some moving services. Sweden is known for being environmentally-friendly and also migrant-friendly, and these new tax breaks on both sectors will provide the opportunity for thousands of refugees without formal qualifications to enter the labor market.
